I've never been to Southeast Asia either (overlooking the Philippines), but I assume this is how it feels like to be in a village overlooking the South China Sea or something... I took a similar photo when I went to Fort Lauderdale in Florida five years ago. This reminds me of a beach resort in Maui...which I traveled to in 2000. This ocean liner is ready to depart from Catalina Island (for Mexico?)...

A Catalina Express sails past the ocean liner...and is headed back to the California mainland on October 4, 2013. More than twenty miles across this sea is Los Angeles. Avalon Bay as seen from a tall hillside, on October 4, 2013. Avalon Bay as seen from a tall hillside, on October 4, 2013.

I took a similar pic back in The Bahamas five years ago...during the same trip to Fort Lauderdale. Sunset falls upon Avalon Bay at Catalina Island, on October 4, 2013. If only this pelican knew how many people sneaked up to it to pose for a photo...haha. Feeling proud that I wasn't the one who caused this fella to fly away...

This pelican is unaware of the giant vessel in the background. This pelican is also unaware of Avalon Casino in the background. This Catalina Express hydrofoil is ready to transport folks back to San Pedro or Long Beach more than twenty miles away...on October 4, 2013. My ride back to Dana Point in Orange County arrives at Avalon Bay, on October 4, 2013. From aboard the boat, dusk continues to fall upon Avalon Bay at Catalina Island...on October 4, 2013. So long, Catalina! 75 minutes later, I'm back at Dana Point in the OC...on October 4, 2013.
